Progress

The "SACRED Trust" has so far achieved the following progress:

1.

So far 59 computers have been installed at 34 Computer Training Centres in 33 villages including 3 in Kanakapura town with two main centres, one in Doddamudavadi village and the other at the G.H.P. School, Kanakapura; yet another at the TMC (S.C.) Colony in Kanakapura town.   Currently 1164 students are learning computers (Please see the attachment).

2.

A landlord of the Doddamudavadi village made available a 50 feet by 15 feet hall for starting our first Training Centre (Computers, Tailoring & a small library). The Trust got the hall cleaned, painted and installed 7 computers, batteries and UPS to begin with.

3.

40 women have  undergone training in tailoring at 2 of our centres in Doddamudavadi and Kalegowdanadoddi village.  12 women are self employed after taking training.  Recently a tailoring training centre was opened in Chikkalbal village. All these training is free of cost. 

4.

Taluk level Science Exhibition for Rural students has been organized by the Trust for Rural students of Kanakapura Taluk in association with GHP School, Kanakapura and BEO, Kanakapura. Three such exhibitions have so far been held since 2005. The 3rd one was inaugurated by Shri Tushar Gandhi, Director, Mahatma Gandhi Foundation, Mumbai on the 23rd of Dec. 2008 in Kanakapura town.  Over 7000 students from rural schools in Kanakapura taluk have witnessed the exhibits in the last 3 years.

5.

A short course in Natural farming (organic farming) was organized in association with and complete help from ART of LIVING of Sri Sri Ravishankar Guruji at Doddamudavadi.

6.

Donated a brand new Pentium IV Computer with UPS and a table altogether costing Rs.25,000/- to Doddamudavadi School

7.

Overhead Projector costing Rs.11,000/- has been donated to the Doddamudavadi school for modernising teaching.

8.

Provided 100 steel plates for the mid day lunch scheme at Doddamudavadi school.

9.

A HP Inkjet Printer, Scanner is installed at the TMC (SC) Centre, Kanakapura and a Laser Printer at the GHP School, Kanakapura. 

10.
The Trust has provided funds to the extent of about Rs.25,000/- to needy students to get admission to High School, PUC and Diploma. Note books etc. for over 100 students.
11.
Science and Mathematics Talent Examination was organised with the cooperation of Putani Vijnana Balaga, Chitradurga, for the rural students of Doddamudavadi Grama Panchayat Limits.
12.
The Trust organized a training course for 35 rural school children in Kanakapura town during mid-term vacation, between 10.10.2008 to 25.10.2008.  The students expressed their keenness to learn more.
